Raise a Calm, Confident, and Well-Behaved Puppy From Day One
An online puppy training course designed for both pet and working dog owners, starting at 8–12 weeks old.
Course Introduction Module: Welcome to The Steady Pup Method
Raising a puppy is exciting but can be overwhelming. During the first few months, your puppy’s brain is developing rapidly, and the habits formed now will shape their behaviour for life.
The Steady Pup Method™ gives you a step-by-step roadmap for building:
- Strong engagement and focus
- Clear communication
- Calm and confident behaviour
- Positive socialisation experiences
This program uses short daily sessions and reward-based training, suitable for pet and working dog owners.
How to Use This Course
Each module includes:
- Lesson explanation
- Demonstration video
- Step-by-step exercises
- Common mistakes
- Weekly homework
Training sessions: 3–5 minutes, several times per day. Puppies learn best when:
- Not overly tired
- Slightly hungry (use food rewards effectively)
- In low-distraction environments
Equipment Needed
To get the best results with your puppy, make sure you have:
- Soft training treats (high-value for motivation)
- Your puppy’s daily food and allowance (used during training to prevent overfeeding and for consistent rewards)
- Flat collar
- Y-Front Harness
- Lightweight lead
- Crate
- Chew toys
- Bed or training mat
Optional but helpful:
- Treat pouch for easy access during sessions
- Long line (5–10m) for outdoor recall practice
Tip: Use your puppy’s measured daily food as part of training treats. For example, break up the daily allowance into small training portions to avoid overfeeding while keeping your puppy motivated.
Your Puppy’s Development Stage
Between 8–16 weeks, puppies form lasting associations. Positive exposure prevents:
- Fear
- Reactivity
- Anxiety
Focus now on: confidence, engagement, and clear communication.
