Remote Dog Training, Behaviour & Nutrition Consultations

Practical, personalised support for you and your dog — from home.

Every dog and owner brings a different set of needs. You may be looking for help with a behavioural concern, advice on everyday training or a clearer understanding of your dog’s diet. With IQ K9 Academy, you can access remote behavioural consultations, telephone training consultations and tailored canine nutrition support without having to attend every appointment in person.

The focus is on understanding your dog and helping you make informed, practical choices. We’ll discuss what you are experiencing, what you want to work towards and which type of consultation is the right fit.

Remote support is an additional way to work with us, not a replacement for every hands-on service. Our in-person services remain available, including residential training and training walks.

Remote Dog Behavioural Consultations

When your dog’s behaviour is making everyday life difficult, it can be hard to know where to start. Barking, reactivity, anxiety or resource guarding can affect your routines and leave you unsure about the best way to respond. A remote dog behaviour consultation gives you the opportunity to discuss those concerns and explore an approach tailored to your dog.

We look beyond the behaviour itself to understand the circumstances around it. Your dog’s history, daily routine, environment and the situations in which a difficulty occurs all help build a clearer picture. What happens before a reaction, how your dog responds and what happens afterwards can be useful information to discuss.

This is not about giving every owner the same set of tips. The aim is to help you understand the concern, identify appropriate management and training steps, and consider what is realistic for your dog and household. We can talk through ways to approach everyday situations without expecting you to change everything at once.

Remote behavioural support can be useful when the work centres on owner guidance, routines and the way situations are managed at home. You remain the person working with your dog, with advice to help you approach that work more clearly.

Not every behavioural concern is suitable for remote consultation. We’ll discuss your dog’s needs, welfare and safety before recommending a format. Some cases need in-person assessment, veterinary input or another appropriate specialist. If pain, illness or a sudden change in behaviour may be involved, veterinary advice is important.

When you get in touch, tell us what your dog is doing, when it tends to happen, how long it has been a concern and how it affects daily life. You do not need to know the cause before asking for help.

Telephone Dog Training Consultations

A telephone dog training consultation offers practical, individual guidance from the comfort of home. It can be a useful starting point when you would like clearer direction with day-to-day training, without travelling to an appointment.

We can talk through foundations such as recall, focus around distractions, helping your dog settle, everyday manners and loose-lead work. You work directly with your own dog, using guidance that takes account of your home life, routine and the challenges you are seeing.

The conversation gives us the chance to understand what is happening, explore the training choices available and identify sensible next steps. We’ll keep the advice clear and manageable, so you can build confidence rather than trying to change everything at once. It also gives you an opportunity to ask questions about putting the guidance into practice.

Telephone training is not right for every dog or every concern. More complex behaviour issues, including those involving safety, fear, aggression or significant distress, may need a dedicated behavioural consultation instead. We’ll advise whether telephone guidance is an appropriate place to begin.

Tell us what you are trying to teach, what you have already tried and where you are finding it difficult. Get in touch to discuss a telephone consultation and whether it suits you and your dog.

Tailored Canine Nutrition Consultations

Helping your dog thrive from the inside out.

Every dog is different. Whether yours is a much-loved pet or a working dog, their nutritional needs can be shaped by age, activity, lifestyle and body condition. A tailored canine nutrition consultation looks at the bigger picture, helping you make informed, practical choices that support overall wellbeing, performance and healthy weight loss or weight management.

Our personalised dog nutrition consultations are available remotely or in person, giving you space to discuss your dog’s current diet, routine and the changes you would like to make. Recommendations are tailored to your dog and designed to be realistic for everyday life, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Feeding needs to work alongside your dog’s daily activity, training and household routine. The aim is to give you a clear, workable approach to daily feeding, with recommendations that make sense for your dog’s individual needs and your goals.

Alice holds a Natures Menu Raw Food Advisor qualification (2018) and has undertaken university-level nutrition studies at the University of Hull. Her guidance focuses on helping owners understand their options and put a suitable nutritional approach into practice.

What’s included?

  • A personalised nutritional consultation, available remotely or in person.
  • Tailored dietary recommendations to suit your dog’s needs and lifestyle.
  • A written nutrition plan to guide you moving forward.
  • Three months of ongoing remote support to help you put the recommendations into practice.

The written plan gives you a practical reference for your dog’s feeding. The three months of remote support provide an opportunity to ask questions about applying the recommendations as you settle into the approach.

If your dog has a medical condition, is unwell or needs a therapeutic diet, seek advice from your veterinary surgeon before making dietary changes. Nutrition consultations do not replace veterinary diagnosis or treatment.

When you enquire, tell us about your dog’s age, current food, activity level and what you would like nutritional advice to help with. Get in touch to discuss your dog’s nutritional needs.

How Remote Support Works

Remote consultation means we guide you while you continue caring for and working with your dog in everyday life. Your dog does not need to understand a screen or interact with a telephone. The consultation is a conversation with you about your dog’s needs and what to do next.

Start by telling us which service interests you and what you would like help with. We’ll discuss whether a behavioural consultation, telephone training advice or nutrition consultation is the most appropriate option, then explain the arrangements before you book.

For training and behaviour, your observations help us understand the situations you are finding difficult. For nutrition, information about your dog’s diet and lifestyle helps us consider an appropriate approach. The service you choose will determine what is included; the written plan and three months of remote support described above are part of the nutrition consultation.

We’re developing online courses to give you another way to learn with IQ K9 Academy. Upcoming topics include Recall and Puppy Foundations, with practical guidance to support training with your dog.

Recall will focus on the foundations of coming back when called, while Puppy Foundations will cover early training and the habits that help owners make a considered start with their puppy. These will be online course options, separate from our consultation services.

Our courses are still being developed and are not available to book yet. We’ll share the course details and what is included when they are ready to launch.

Questions About Remote Consultations

What is the difference between training advice and a behavioural consultation?

Telephone training consultations focus on practical training questions and suitable next steps. A behavioural consultation explores a concern in more detail, including your dog’s history and the situations in which it occurs. You do not need to choose perfectly before contacting us; we’ll help you identify the appropriate service.

Can every behaviour concern be supported remotely?

No. Suitability depends on the dog, the concern, welfare and safety. Some cases need hands-on assessment, veterinary input or specialist support. We’ll discuss this before recommending remote work.

Can I have a nutrition consultation without attending in person?

Yes. Our tailored canine nutrition consultations are available remotely or in person. Both options include personalised dietary recommendations, a written plan and three months of ongoing remote support.

Is three months of support included with every consultation?

The three-month remote support period is included with our canine nutrition consultation. It is not a standard inclusion for every service. We’ll explain what is included in your chosen consultation before booking.

Can I still use your in-person services?

Yes. Remote consultations add another way to access support. Our in-person services remain available, including residential training and training walks.

Are your online courses available now?

Not yet. Online courses, including Recall and Puppy Foundations, are coming soon. Contact us if you would like to hear when they launch.
